Troubleshooting Guide

Find quick solutions to common setup, configuration, and runtime issues encountered with Magento 2 Multi Vendor Recurring Payments & Subscription.

1. "No Payment method available" at Checkout

Symptom

When a customer attempts to check out with a subscription item, the payment step displays:

"No Payment method available."

Cause

The administrator has not explicitly selected allowed payment methods for subscriptions in store configuration. Standard Magento payment methods are hidden for subscription quotes by default.

Resolution

  1. Go to Stores > Configuration > Subscription Configuration > General Settings.
  2. Locate the field Allowed payment methods to buy subscription.
  3. Hold Ctrl (or Cmd) and select the recurring methods you want to offer:
    • Webkul Recurring Stripe Payment
    • Webkul Recurring PayPal Express Checkout
    • Or offline methods (e.g. Check / Money order)
  4. Click Save Config and run:
    php bin/magento cache:flush

2. Renewal Child Orders Not Appearing Under Subscription

Symptom

The initial order was placed and shows under Subscription Information, but the Orders tab remains empty over time.

Cause

The Orders tab in the subscription detail view only tracks subsequent renewal orders generated by future billing cycles, not the initial purchase order. If renewal cycles have elapsed without new orders:

  1. Magento cron jobs are not running.
  2. Gateway webhooks (Stripe webhook or PayPal IPN) are failing to reach your server.

Resolution

  1. Verify Magento cron is active:
    crontab -l
    # Ensure: * * * * * /usr/bin/php /path/to/magento/bin/magento cron:run

  2. Verify webhook URLs in Stripe and PayPal dashboards:
    • Stripe: https://[your-domain]/recurring/stripe/notify/
    • PayPal: https://[your-domain]/recurring/paypal/notify
  3. Verify that the endpoints respond with HTTP 200 and that your domain has a valid SSL certificate.

3. "You can not add other product with subscription product" Error

Symptom

Customer sees an error banner when trying to add a regular item while a subscription product is in the cart.

Cause

Recurring billing engines cannot mix one-time purchase items and subscription items in the same checkout transaction because payment gateways tokenize recurring agreements specifically for the recurring schedule.

Resolution

Advise the customer to complete the subscription purchase first and then place a separate order for standard one-time catalog products.

4. "Start dates and Duration types of all added subscriptions must be same"

Symptom

Customer receives an error when adding a second subscription product to the cart.

Cause

Multiple subscription items can only be billed together if they share the identical Duration Type (e.g. Monthly) and the exact same Start Date.

Resolution

Ensure the customer selects matching start dates and frequencies for all subscription products added to the shopping cart.

5. Subscription Form Not Displaying on Hyvä Theme

Symptom

The subscription plan dropdown and "Subscribe" button do not render on product pages when running the Hyvä theme.

Cause

Standard Luma XML blocks are not automatically rendered in Hyvä without Hyvä-compatible view models and templates.

Resolution

Ensure that Webkul_RecurringHyva is installed and that the product view layout contains the proper view_model declaration:

<arguments>
    <argument name="view_model" xsi:type="object">Webkul\Recurring\ViewModel\Recurring</argument>
    <argument name="mp_view_model" xsi:type="object">Webkul\MpRecurringPayment\ViewModel\Recurring</argument>
</arguments>

Compile and flush cache:

php bin/magento setup:di:compile
php bin/magento cache:flush
